The Pillars of Heaven was a pair of pillars where the sun rose, and a pair of pillars where the sun set; according to various Earth-sourced mythologies (and some not borne of Earth).
These pillars are usually located upon mountains (naturally occurring) and according to legend represent the ladder between Heaven and Earth.
