Description

The land of Hyperborea is s sunny, temperate and blessed lands, bordered with less fortunate regions. Cardinal directions on a compass do not work on Hyperborea (due to the positioning of the land directly on the magnetic pole - every direction is technically “south”)

People

The people of Hyperborea are large, some reaching 3 metres (10 feet) tall, making them a race of giants. They are tanned, with brown to fair hair, which they wear braided.

The Hyperborea peoples around the city of Arimaspi are smaller (2.1 metres, 7 feet).

Hyperboreans do not have a bimorphic gender diversity, unlike most humanoids. They are all a single ‘asexual’ sex, and appropriate whichever clothes or styling they prefer. This can cause some confusion among Earth humans or Barsoom natives where their home cultures assume two sexes and gender conformity along sexual lines.

Hyperboreans reproduce asexually, each laying a single egg, once every Hyperborean year. This is similar to, but not the same as the the natives of Barsoom (who are also oviparous, but who reproduce sexually).

Hyperborean technology is pre-industrial, but they make up for this with extensive use of magic which they learned from the Serpent People, with whom they have had various alliances and wars over the centuries. You will find artefacts from other places as well; a number of Fliers from Barsoom, can be seen above Hyperborean cities.

Hyperboreans revere cats, and most households will have a long limbed, domestic feline (similar to a Serval or Caracal) that is much larger than a modern Earth domestic cat. These cats are descended from the cats of Ulthar, being both intelligent and mildly telepathic.
